Today Islamic Jihadists attacked a Catholic Church in Burkina Faso, a small country just north of Ghana. The attacking Muslims, numbering 20-30 fighters, opened fire during Sunday Mass while worshipers prayed. The fighters killed a priest who was performing mass and executed 5 church elders. The mayor, Mr. Zongo told the AFP news agency: “the town is in panic with people holed up in their homes. It is practically a ghost town.” Security forces are being sent in but the damage has already been done. The towns only Christian church has been burned to the ground leaving Christians without a place of worship. Burkina Faso is among the area countries fighting Islamic Supremacy using their own Special Forces with help from the French military. A regional force has been stood up with the help of Niger, Chad, Mauritania and Mali to combat the insurgency. There have been more than 150 Islamic attacks in Burkina Faso since the start of 2018. A significant increase from the 33 attacks seen in 2017. Today’s attack is the 3rd attack on Christian churches within the last 5 weeks. Islamic fighters have also destroyed schools and health centers in the area. Their western ideology conflicts with the beliefs of Muslims prompting the attacks. The international community has done little to acknowledge these atrocities and world media has been struck dumb. Christains are being exterminated while world leaders fight climate change.
