In what authorities say is one of the worste cases they have ever seen, Steven Sarandon Barnes vicousely raped a five year old girl. The injuries she sustained from the attack required emergancy surgery at Birmingham Childrens Hospital. She is currenty in stable condition. Barnes is being charged with Rape 1st degree, Chemical Endangerment of a Child and Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree. He is being held on $160,000. bail with a requirement of $100,000.00 being cash. Prosecutors say that if Barnes is convicted they will ensure he never walks the streets a free man again.
